CivStart, a new civic technology incubator is bringing on AWS and ESRI as partners. The companies will provide CivStart’s 2019 cohort of ten govtech start-ups with tools, services, and solutions to help grow and scale their businesses.
Access to Amazon Web Services technologies will be provided through the AWS Activate program. Esri will offer its ArcGIS platform, enabling to work on growing their platforms and being responsive to community needs.
Several of CivStart’s cohort members are already successfully integrating these technologies into the solutions they offer for state and local governments. Orbital Insight, for example, is using AWS infrastructure and Esri technology to give policymakers the ability to monitor economic and geopolitical activity using satellite imagery and AI.
Other companies in the cohort are going through an intensive product development phase that will be supported by AWS and Esri. The companies will also be mentored/supervised by leaders from state and local governments and private companies.
For this round of the accelerator, companies are focused on building digital services including licensing, permitting, public accounting, government service delivery, and procurement.
CivStart says that the Esri and AWS technologies will be made available at no cost to accelerator participants.
