Former Mozilla and AVG Technologies CEO will be joining Accela, according to a statement from the company. Kovacs will replace outgoing CEO Ed Daihl who announced his retirement for personal reasons earlier this year. Daihl remains an investor in the company.
The company says Kovacs will focus on customer experience, accelerating SaaS transformation for both Accela and its customers and growing the company’s partner community. Accela announced a go-to-market partnership with Microsoft Azure earlier this year. Much of the Accela platform of services will be hosted on Azure.
Kovacs is a veteran of the technology industry and said in a statement that part of the reason why he chose Accela was to be able to have a positive impact on communities in the US. Kovacs also has experience working with Berkshire Partners, the private equity firm that made a majority investment in Accela in 2017.
Looking ahead the company says it plans to continue building out its public sector SaaS platform with an emphasis on cloud-based solutions.
