Public sector technology provider Tyler Technologies has acquired SceneDoc, a provider of mobile software-as-a-service field reporting for law enforcement agencies.
SceneDoc created the technology that allows first responders to use smartphones, tablets, wearables and task-specific apps in the field, for field capture of data, electronic notes, and multimedia from the devices with secure storage and access to and from the cloud. The software also supports voice to text capability and real-time data uploading so that first responders can send information from the field to dispatch centers and colleagues.
In a statement, Tyler Technologies said that SceneDoc’s features made it stand out from other public safety providers. SceneDoc said it hopes to expand its presence in the public safety market by leveraging Tyler’s sales platform and raising awareness with Tyler’s existing public safety customers.
The transaction is the latest in a string of acquisitions from Tyler Tech this year. Tyler recently purchased Socrata, Sage Data Security, CaseloadPRO and MobileEyes. Tyler Technologies is the largest software company solely devoted to the public sector and has said it will continue to be opportunistically acquisitive to add important feature sets to its platform.
SceneDoc employs 18 people who will become part of Tyler’s Public Safety Division, and its employees are expected to remain in their current locations. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
