Anne Bennet has been appointed Chief Information Officer for the city of Toledo. Bennet was previously CIO at the Toledo Museum of Art. She is currently a consultant with Great Lakes Information Architects, a boutique consulting firm. Ms. Bennett was chief information officer for The Andersons Inc. in Maumee from 2007 to 2013.

In a statement, Mayor Kapszukiewicz said that Bennet would bring innovative ideas from the private sector to improve the technology experience in Toledo.

Toledo has an open data policy and maintains public facing civic dashboards that show how the government does business. Last year, the city introduced priority-based budgeting, a type of municipal budgeting that purports to match resources with the current priorities of the city. Information about that budgeting process is available through an online portal. Part of Bennet’s role will be keeping up with those websites in addition to technology modernization.

According to the Toledo Blade, the city worked with local executive search firm Waverly Partners to identify candidates for the role and the Mayor eventually settled on Bennett who will assume her role on August 16.
