Long Beach, California has named Lea Eriksen as Director of Technology and Innovation. Eriksen has been serving as interim director since the beginning of this year. Eriksen took over for Bryan Sastokas, who moved on to a position with the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority.
Prior to her work in the city’s technology department, Eriksen was Long Beach Budget Manager and Assistant Finance Director.
As interim director, Eriksen oversaw a $67 million critical technology infrastructure program for Long Beach, which included investment in citywide technology infrastructure, fiber master plan and other key information systems. In addition, she has been overseeing the implementation of LB COAST, the City’s new $30 million enterprise financial and human resource system. As Director, she will continue to oversee these projects as well as day-to-day operations and project management of the department, including developing a staff of 143 employees and managing a $44 million office budget.
“Eriksen has served as a leader since the first day she stepped into City Hall,” said Long Beach City Manager Patrick West in a statement on her hire.
