Premise Data has announced that Maury Blackman will take over as President and CEO. Prior to joining Premise, Blackman served as President and CEO of Accela from 2007-2016, a global government technology company. He’s currently a board member for Forensic Logic, Omnia Partners, Govlist, and is an investor and advisor for the Urban Innovation Fund.

Blackman will be bringing his considerable civic tech experience to Premise Data in order to help the company scale, according to a statement.

Blackman will be joining Premise Chairman and Founder David Soloff on the executive management team.

In a Medium post earlier today, Blackman highlighted the growing role of data analytics in government and the private sector. “Imagine government enlisting citizens to actively monitor their community’s assets, and guide limited tax dollars to the work that matters most to their daily lives. Imagine coordinating our most important global development efforts around the same real-time ground truth metrics. Imagine knowing exactly what your customers want six months before any of your competitors,” he wrote.

Blackman will focus on expanding Premise’s capabilities by recruiting top talent to join an existing team of technologists, network operators, data scientists, and subject matter experts. “We’re going to make strategic investments across the board. Everyone at Premise shares a passion for harnessing technology for good – I feel right at home,” he said.
