Socrata, a provider of open data solutions, has received FedRAMP certification. Alongside the certification, Socrata has launched a new offering, Socrata for Federal Government. The new software will provide agencies with an enterprise-ready environment to securely collect, manage, analyze data.

Socrata has invested heavily in information security and privacy programs to achieve the certification, which was sponsored by the FCC. The FCC uses Socrata to gain insights from the data that is being surfaced from multiple SaaS and custom built platforms. With Socrata, the FCC hosts consumer complaint, broadband survey, licensing data to the public, and dashboards for internal tracking.

Federal, state and local users of Socrata also have access to the Open Data Network — a network of hundreds of federal, state, local, and NGO organizations and their published data. The network is designed to enable better information sharing between government entities and organizations.

Kevin Merritt, Socrata Founder and CEO, says that the certification will enable further innovation on the platform. “Socrata has always believed that in order for government programs to succeed in the digital age, we need to make it our mission to dramatically improve the flow of data and empower those who are most able to affect outcomes to use the data as easily as they can send an email.”
