Accenture Federal Services has acquired Virginia-based Defense Point Security, a privately held cybersecurity company, that supports the U.S. federal government with advanced cyber defense and response capabilities—including advanced Security Operations Center (SOC) expertise, cyber operations, security engineering, and cyber analytics.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This acquisition will bolster Accenture’s cybersecurity expertise, a move which Gus Hunt, Cybersecurity Lead at Accenture Federal Services, tells CivSource is part of a broader effort to reemphasize AFS’ cybersecurity business. “There are two ways for us to grow our skill set in cybersecurity – organically and inorganically, and we’re doing both,” he says.
In the past several months, Accenture Federal has made additional investments including the acquisitions of FusionX – an Arlington, Virginia-based firm focused on advanced adversary simulation and incident response, and Cimation, a Houston-based firm that specializes in IIoT and industrial control system security.
Defense Point Security, founded in 2007, offers a suite of advanced detection, engineering and operations services, as well as expertise with cybersecurity consulting, Managed Security Services (MSS) and Big Data platforms. The company quickly gained attention for its cybersecurity offering and has several agencies within the US government on its client roster.
“Finding qualified cybersecurity talent is very hard to come by in this market,” Hunt said. “With DPS we have found an organization that has the talent and can bring it to bear within the federal government.”
