QTS Realty Trust, a provider of data centers has brought on IBM veteran David McOmber as head of public sector sales. McOmber was most recently IBM’s Vice President of Federal Civilian and Healthcare Agencies where he was responsible for the overall strategy, execution and sales management in the arenas of software, hardware, services and cloud.

McOmber was named a 2014 ACT-IAC Fellow and was appointed to the Executive Board at the Northern Virginia Technology Council in 2015.

At QTS, he will lead the Overland Park, Kansas-based firm’s government business from Washington D.C.

Last year, QTS acquired Carpathia Hosting, a cloud provider, for $326 million as part of a broader effort to expand into government sales and service. McOmber is the company’s first significant hire to lead that effort. Carpathia brought over 200 public sector clients into the company and is FedRAMP approved. QTS has just over 1,000 data center clients worldwide.
