Manatee County, Florida has upgraded its jury administration process. The county tapped Xerox for its AgileJury product, which will bring much of the jury administration process online. The county has also implemented eJuror software from Xerox that handles juror check-in online.
“We needed to upgrade our outdated jury services system, and we were looking to take advantage of online juror processing as well as possibly adding kiosks,” said Carole Pettijohn, director, Technology Services for the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.
Since implementing eJuror, Manatee County reports an increase in the number of citizens summoned that are using the service. Jurors can complete and submit juror questionnaires, enter their biographical information, request service postponements and deferrals, upload supporting documentation and more, all online. This makes jury days more efficient, as jurors only need to confirm their name and address when arriving at the court check-in counter. Additionally, accuracy is improved because jurors enter and verify their own data online.
Xerox, for its part, says that the work in Manatee County sets a baseline for other counties in Florida. Counties that are looking at upgrades in the state will be able to build off of Manatee County’s work and upgrade with a few adjustments.
