Accela, a provider of legislative management software for state and local government is teaming up with DocuSign to provide electronic signature capabilities on the platform. The partnership is the latest in a big push by Accela to add features to its legislative management service.

Software consultants Intellicap have projected that that the average savings per electronically signed document is $22.18 and the average turnaround time is reduced by 13.5 days (97%). At a government level, the savings could be significant.

DocuSign’s eSignature capability will be integrated into Agenda and Minutes within the Legislative Management solution on the Accela Civic Platform. Accela says that customers process approximately 18,000 documents through its Agenda and Minutes solution, with nearly every document requiring a signature.

As CivSource previously reported, governmentwide implementations of DocuSign can go relatively fast. In Nevada, what started as a 20 person pilot project escalated to over 200 users in less than a year. NVDOT uses the service for managing vendor contracts, in-house paperwork and reviewing documents like engineering blueprints.
