Acquia, a provider of Drupal and other software development services, has closed a $55 million equity financing round. The round included commitments from Centerview Capital Technology, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Split Rock Partners.
The company says the funding will help to scale its global operations, sales and marketing as well as the development of its solutions for building, delivering, and optimizing digital experiences.
Acquia recently updated its support for Drupal 8, as released at Drupal GovCon in July. The new release builds in a lot of the most popular features used in the Drupal community as part of its core functionality instead of as add-ons.
Recent state and local clients include the city of Boston, which has partnered with Aquia for its redesign of Boston.gov. Acquia will work with IDEO on the project. City officials say the update will include new features aimed at providing greater accessibility to city information and city services.
Acquia is the latest civic tech firm to see a significant investment from private equity. Others include Accela, and Mark43.
