The Department of Health and Human Services has a new CTO. Susannah Fox will lead technology efforts at HHS after previously serving at Pew and as a the Entrepreneur in Residence at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Writing in a blog post on the HHS website announcing her position, Fox says she plans to take her “data geek” views and put them to use. Fox also plans to continue the work of her predecessor Bryan Sivak through the HHS Idea Lab. The Idea Lab has served as an incubator of sorts for technology initiatives throughout HHS aimed at improving service delivery.
Fox is the latest in a series of CTOs at HHS that have been forward thinking in their approach to modernization and service delivery. It appears she plans to keep pushing the agency forward.
Fox’s first activity as CTO will be to oversee Health Datapalooza, which started yesterday at HHS and will spotlight data driven inventions. The event was the brain child of former CTO Todd Park and has expanded into a three day conference.
