The largest provider of family services in New York City has awarded a $1.5 million contract to InterCloud Systems to expand its network. InterCloud Systems provides end-to-end networking and technology services.

Under the terms of the contract, InterCloud Systems will provide UC solutions, data networking, network security and professional services for 21 center locations. InterCloud will set up a turnkey networking solution for family services.

The company provides similar services for a range of state and local public sector clients.

The news follows the announcement of a new service offering from InterCloud – the NFVGrid, a network functions virtualization orchestration platform. The product provides a multi-vendor cloud solution with Networking-as-a-Service (NaaS). NFVGrid is built on top of Contrail from Juniper and utilizes open APIs to ensure interoperability with different OSS/BSS platforms, cloud management systems, SDN controllers, and virtualized network function (VNF) managers.

Infonetics forecasts the carrier SDN and NFV market to reach $11 Billion by 2018. IT shops can expect to see more offerings of this type to come to market in pursuit of that opportunity.
