Accela has acquired Springbrook Software, based in Portland, Oregon, and SoftRight, based in Westford, Massachusetts. The acquisitions will provide the basis for a finance and administration offering that will become part of the Accela’s growing suite of products. The finance and administration unit will be offered as part of the Accela Civic Platform.

The acquisitions represent the first since the company drew more than $143 million in private equity funding earlier this year. That investment represents the largest private investment in a civic tech company to date.

The company aims to use the Civic Platform as an option for local governments looking to integrate systems with a single provider and upgrade legacy solutions.

Accela was one of the first players in the civic tech space offering a licensing and permitting solution that has since expanded. The company’s client roster now includes some 2000 agency customers globally.

In the past 12 months, Accela acquired GeoTMS, an enhanced municipal software provider; Envista, a provider of right-of-way coordination software; IQM2, a provider of legislative management software; Kinsail; Government Outreach, and Decade Software.
