Code for America has partnered with Rally Software (RALY), on funding, tools and expertise for Code for America fellows and projects. The partnership is designed to support the Brigade program which is an outgrowth of the original fellows program. Brigades work nationwide as groups of volunteers that provide technology support for local government.
Brigades host regular civic hack nights, events, and do technology advocacy work within their municipalities in order to further the mission of Code for America.
As part of the relationship, the Rally For Impact Foundation has made an initial $50,000 grant to Code for America to help grow the organization’s Brigade program. Rally also is providing its software solutions for Agile teams. In addition, Rally’s Agile coaches will work with Brigades as mentors during a 2015 pilot program to help them improve their skill sets.
Cities targeted for this pilot Brigade program currently include Boulder and Denver, Colo., Raleigh, N.C., and one large metropolitan area that is yet to be announced. As an outcome of these efforts, Rally will work with Code for America to develop a custom Agile toolkit for Brigades across the country.
The partnership with Code for America is the Rally Foundation’s largest investment to date. The foundation was created last year as part of Rally’s 1% stock donation.
