The National Recreation and Park Association and MindMixer are partnering in an effort to increase civic engagement around America’s parks. MindMixer is a civic startup that is backed by the recently announced $23 million Govtech VC fund. The company provides technology to create digital townhall meetings and engage citizens on local issues.
Now, the startup is partnering with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) will be using the platform to create awareness around local parks. As a result of the arrangement, special pricing is now available to NRPA members who are interested in securing a MindMixer platform on behalf of the organizations they represent.
MindMixer will let each park create customized and measurable engagement opportunities around important park and recreation topics, like conservation, health and wellness and social equity, as they relate specifically to their communities.
“Local parks and recreation are making communities more livable, sustainable and better connected,” said Barbara Tulipane, president and CEO of NRPA. “The public is at the heart of parks and recreation so real-time engagement and feedback is critical to help inform decisions and generate support.”
NRPA will hold its annual national congress on October 14-16, 2014, in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the technology will be formally presented to attendees.
