The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and analytics software provider SAS are working together to provide customized offerings to help local governments use data effectively in daily operations. ICMA says it wants to use its expertise in state and local government management to build technology solutions for the public sector.

As part of the partnership, communities will also receive practical assistance in analyzing and applying data to clearly view their operations and assess how they are tracking toward goals and objectives. These solutions will include performance management technologies designed to help public sector officials track the outcomes of their efforts.

The partnership is also expected to focus its efforts on improvements to transparency, service delivery and accounting standards. ICMA says the first product roll outs will come in the next few months, with steady additions thereafter.

“We are anxious for local entities to benefit from this dynamic new program built on SAS’ legacy of government analytics success,” said ICMA Executive Director Robert O’Neill.
