New York consolidates new business info into single website

New York has launched a new website designed to highlight the benefits of basing a business in the state.  The site, New York First consolidates all of the information prospective businesses need to know about economic development in New York.  The information is fully searchable and includes requirements for every type of business from 35 state agencies.  The website is the result of a partnership between Empire State Development (ESD) and several statewide business partners.

Typically, ESD serves as the first point of contact for many new business queries,  this website builds on that process by including information new businesses will need from other agencies. Visitors to the website will be able to search the information thematically or by keyword in the hopes that dual search options will help visitors navigate to the appropriate information more quickly. The site is also available on mobile and iPad.

In concert with the website, ESD also offers an Experts on Demand service which promises to respond to all business queries it receives within one business day. ESD hopes that the site will be informative and highlight all of the various programs, tax incentives and benefits available to businesses who choose to establish themselves in New York.

“Websites are often a ‘here’s who we are and what we do,’ but New York First articulates, ‘here’s what New York can do for you,'” Governor Patterson said of the new website.
