Georgia has launched a new website, Work Ready Connect – an online employment marketplace for people certified under the state’s Work Ready Certification program. The website will link up employers and employees that participate in the program to provide information about available positions and application requirements.
The new site will be free for certified employees and employers who participate in the program. The program and the new website are part of a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, both offices hope that the new site will increase awareness about the program and support hiring and job creation statewide.
Job seekers that visit the site can use their certification to sort for applicable jobs, build personalized profiles and communicate with potential employers. Companies will be able to search profiles, create company profiles and invite potential employees to learn more about specific openings. Company participants include Atlanta Gas Light, Georgia Power, Manpower and YKK. To date, more than 150,000 Georgians have earned Work Ready Certificates and more than 540 companies are listed on the Georgia Work Ready website as preferring or requiring the certificate as part of their hiring process.
The Work Ready program utilizes skills assessments and training to help job seekers develop their skills and find jobs that fit. “Georgia Work Ready has transformed out state’s workforce and made our people our number one competitive advantage,” said Governor Perdue. “Work Ready Connect will take us to a new level. It will help our citizens find high-quality jobs, help our companies connect with the right talent and help our communities drive economic growth.”
