In March, CivSource reported on the release of eight case studies from the Technology For Transparency Network examining transparency initiatives across the globe. The case studies took place in China, Kenya, India, Mexico, Zimbabwe, and Brazil and have led to a broader report examining the effects of online technology projects in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, China, and Central & Eastern Europe.
The research was conducted by eight regional researchers documenting 37 case studies. The cases look at how technology can utilize government data to provide more in-depth information about the activities of government verses more traditional means like watchdog journalism. Additionally, the report provides regional context about the overall transparency of governments, accountability, grassroots activism and civic engagement from a networked perspective.
The report provides executive summaries of all the research or you can listen to full interviews and read the related documentation for each case on the Technology For Transparency Network site.
