Editor’s Note: Keeping tabs on the business of government

After whittling away the weekend hours, we at CivSource have poured over the Office of Management and Budget’s new round of guidance for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. While the new document chimes in at 121 pages, complete with nine appendices, it’s far from complete. New guidance will be forthcoming within the next thirty to sixty days and over the coming months, CivSource will document these and other regulatory issues with a segment called, In Triplicate.

The OMB’s latest round of governance provides a timely example of the subject matter In Triplicate will cover, but it hardly conveys the breadth of similar issues facing local levels of government. As the federal government mandates higher degrees of accountability and transparency, state and local governments have to respond in unprecedented ways, under unprecedented circumstances. In Triplicate will examine issues such as financial reporting, budget execution and the solutions being used to address these issues.

As is the case of this entire undertaking, In Triplicate may evolve in ways unforeseen – it’s up to you, the reader, to dictate its course. So please, if you have any comments or questions, we’d love to hear from you.
