The US Department of Energy (DOE) is making a big investment in electric cars nationwide. The investment is part of DOE’s Clean Cities initiative which is supporting the growth of energy efficient and renewable energy measures in America’s cities. Awards were given to 16 electric vehicle projects in 24 states and Washington DC.

According to a new study, information technology priorities at the federal, state and local levels of government share common outcomes, but investments on how those outcomes are attained differ.
Yesterday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed an executive order to standardize IT governance across the state by defining timelines for IT consolidation and shared services of data centers, e-mail and security measures. The order also calls for a 30 percent reduction in energy usage from IT by 2012.
According to a report issued by the California Recovery Task Force Wednesday, companies and organizations in the state have won nearly three-fourths of all stimulus funds to reduce energy consumption at data centers and for telecommunications systems.
