In a host of executive orders released this week, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper issued a policy to enhance the relationship between state and local government. In Executive Order D 2011-005, the governor acknowledged a need for more flexibility and he directed state agencies to take specific steps to minimize burdens for local governments.

Boston will be putting more of its City Council activities online according to a new initiative announced earlier this week. In 2011, the council will start work toward fulfilling all data requests online. The council will also be posting all of its committee reports online, saving an average of $35,000 per year.
Alabama’s Medicaid Agency will receive a $55 million federal performance bonus for its efforts to enroll more low-income children into Medicaid.
