SAFC announced today that they will be expanding their biopharmaceuticals operations in Kansas by creating a ‘Center of Excellence’ in Lenexa, KS. The center, a $6.25 million project, is part of a global plan to manage manufacturing and supply chain optimization for the company.
The project is also supported by a $250,000 grant from the Kansas Bioscience Authority to expand milling and blending capabilities, increasing biopharmaceutical production in the state. For its part, SAFC is planning to consolidate all of its milling activity to the Lenexa site.
“Our investments are making Kansas a national leader in bioscience, and this is possible thanks to the innovation, success and growth of world-class companies such as SAFC. We congratulate SAFC on its compelling vision for this center of excellence,” said Kansas Bioscience Authority CEO Tom Thornton.
