Fromer APHSA executive joins Accenture’s human services practice

The former executive director for the American Public Human Services Association’s (APHSA) has joined Accenture’s human services practice, the company announced today. Jerry Friedman served as APHSA executive director since 2001.

Mr. Friedman will work closely with the Health & Public Service operating group to deliver Accenture’s Family-first framework for human services agencies around the world, said David McCurley, global managing director of Accenture’s human services practice. “Jerry brings tremendous vision and a special passion for human services to Accenture,” he said in a statement.

Family-first is a framework designed to help deliver more efficient and effective services by addressing the holistic needs of a individual or family. Last November, the company released a service-oriented architecture solution called the Accenture Public Services Platform (APSP) utilizing open-source and commercial components to allow governments to quickly integrate the solution at low cost.

Mr Friedman was the deputy commissioner of the Texas Department of Human Services before joining APHSA, but he also served in various human services capacities for both Washington State and Pennsylvania.

“Jerry’s highly respected expertise gives us a unique understanding of the challenges facing human services leaders,” Steve Rohleder, group chief executive of Accenture’s Health & Public Service operating group, said. “This makes him ideally suited to drive our strategic initiatives addressing the industry’s most pressing needs.”
